Detail from the Sistine Chapel fresco by Michelangelo Buonarroti (1512). It is suggested, as discovered by an unnamed surgeon, that the background of the figure of the Creator represents the Brain or the Mind (Logos) of God. In John's Gospel (1:1-5) we read that all of creation is brought forth by the Word, the Logos of God. |
