Description |
Masada was the last stronghold of the Jews in the Jewish-Roman War of 66-73 after the destruction of Jerusalem. The Zealots who were defending the mountain fortress in the Judean desert, resisted the Roman siege for two years before committing mass suicide, which they preferred to surrender to the Romans. |
